The Fund for Innovation and Industry was created in January 2018, and is currently endowed with €10 billion (asset disposals from Engie and Renault, share contributions from EDF and Thalès).

The fund is expected to generate €250 million per year, which will be dedicated to financing disruptive innovation, to ensure France's scientific and technological sovereignty and its economic development. The detailed allocation of the Fund's resources is decided within the framework of the Innovation Council, but about €120 million is supposed to be dedicated to the financing of the Grand Challenges, to which PRISSMA is attached.
